Planetary Reducer For Laser Cutting Equipment Details

The use of high-speed laser cutting equipment necessitates a motion accuracy level throughout all phases of operation. Even minor vibrations and/or backlashes may lead to cuts that are poorly placed and/or have substandard finishes. For this reason, all planetary reducers designed for laser cutting equipment must be manufactured with precise attention to detail regarding both positional and continuous torque transfer. Servo systems operating at high speeds generally require reducers designed to resist rapid acceleration and deceleration as well as providing a high level of internal shock resistance. To achieve this objective, we utilize close tolerancing when machining the gears to reduce back-lash. In addition, the planet gears are aligned so that there is an even distribution of load across all planets. This will improve the repeatability of the planetary reducer during continuous cycles of laser cutting.

In addition to achieving a sufficient level of load distribution of the planet gears, we also verify the rigidity of the reducer housing to ensure that structural flexing does not affect the accuracy of its three axes.

The selection of a reduction ratio is made after reviewing the specifications of the motors being used, the maximum travel speed of the laser beam, and the load being cut. If the laser cutting system is using a fiber laser, proper synchronisation is vital. The duty cycle will also be evaluated prior to finalizing the configuration of the planetary reducer.

During extended periods of operation, the quality of lubrication used in conjunction with the planetary reducer is essential in managing both the heat generated by the planetary reducer's internal mechanisms.
