When a motor and gearbox are properly fitted together to enhance their capabilities (in terms of space and strength), power transmission is enhanced significantly. In industrial machinery, most engineers prefer to have a hollow input to easily mount the motor and a solid output shaft to ensure that there is sufficient torque present when transferring to other components. At Planetary Gear Box we offer a hollow input + solid output planetary gear box configuration, which provides maximum flexibility for installation while maintaining the utmost mechanical rigidity. By using a hollow input design, the motor shaft can be inserted directly into the gearbox, which reduces alignment errors and simplifies assembly. The output solid shaft will ensure that the transferred torque to the drive component will be consistent because it will be transferring torque through the input/solid shaft combination under constant load. The planetary gears inside the gearbox enclosure will evenly distribute the load being transferred across each of the gear contacts, which increases torque density in a compact form factor.
Precision gear cutting, heat treatment, and backlash control are all critical to achieving smooth motion and accurate positioning. When assembling the units, concentricity is checked very carefully to reduce vibration and operating noise. The actual applications—i.e., loads, speeds, and duty cycles will guide our selection of gearbox ratios.
